SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico — The American Foundation for Artificial Intelligence today announced the Main Street AI Accelerator, a hands-on program designed to help established small businesses move from experimenting with artificial intelligence to implementing it in real business operations.

Participating companies will work with practitioners, industry experts, technology partners, and peer businesses to identify high-value opportunities, test potential solutions, train employees, and measure results.

From learning to implementation

The Accelerator follows a five-phase pathway: discover, test, build, deploy, and grow. Each business begins by examining its own workflows and leaves with a longer-term roadmap for continued adoption.

Projects may address customer service, sales, operations, marketing, finance, administration, or secure knowledge management. The focus is not adoption for its own sake, but practical improvements that can be evaluated against a clear baseline.

Built for Main Street

The program is intended for operating small businesses that are ready to dedicate time and staff to implementation. Participants do not need an AI team or advanced technical expertise.

AFAI plans to develop regional and industry cohorts with economic-development organizations, universities, chambers of commerce, technology companies, and philanthropic partners.
